I love this because not only does it charge your device, but you can choose what song you want to wake up to as it plays the last song you played on your ipod.

Someone asked about not using the plastic insert due to the iphone case not fitting. You do NOT need to use an insert, but be very careful when placing/removing your device. I ended up buying an extension cable that transfers music to protect the plug on the clock radio.

If your considering a clock radio for your iphone this is the one to get!!!! I tried two others that said they work with the iphone and they did not.

i consider myself an audiophile, and have no problem spending lifetimes of money on home theater systems. i am exceptionally picky about my sound systems and demand the best. in particular, there's nothing i hate more about a speaker than for the speaker to remind me its there, as it relates to sound. for example, if a speaker does a poor job of producing low frequency noise and rattles on bass, it drives me crazy. which brings me to my now completed, long journey to find a high quality clock radio. i had been searching for a clock radio that also has some preset noises (e.g., rain, waterfalls, etc.). i bought some sharper image product that fit the bill, but produced very lackluster sound results. then i looked toward the bose products, but the best ones didn't have a clock, or anything preprogrammed. then i realized - target sells great nature sounds cds - how about i put those on my ipod and get a system like this. shazam! so while this device does not come with pre-loaded sounds, it does accept the ipod and, most importantly, produce shockingly great sound. i never expected a device to sound as great as this. it has a 3d sound feature that probably sounds awful for regular music, but makes nature noise (thunderstorms) sound particularly real and encompassing. even better, when the thunder strikes, it sounds realistic and i don't hear an awfully low quality driver rattle in the device. i have to admit that i'm particularly surprised with the ihome; i demo'ed other ihome products and they sounded like garbage. not so here.

i did compare it to the Sony Speaker Dock Clock Radio for iPod / iPhone (use this string of words to find it on amazon). i demoed both in the store on the same source, and this was infinitely better. the speakers in the sony simply sounded awful.

other aspects of the ihome that i really like:
- remote control - yes, kinda silly when you consider this device sits within arm reach, but its nice to have handy for varying volume, etc. even better, though, the remote fully controls the ipod
- aux in - if for some reason in the future the ipod dock breaks, i can run a line from the ipod to the ihome; nice backup
- charging - when docked, the ihome charges my ipod. nice feature.

I bought this for my iPod touch after using one in a hotel room recently and I have to say, overall it is a great product that produces some good sound and has many useful features. I like the fact that it charges my iPod while docked. This eliminates the need for me to constantly plug it into my PC.
The sound is much better than you would expect from a unit so small. I found music to sound great even at higher volumes.
Another smart feature is the dimmer. My old clock was so bright, even on low, that it was difficult to get to sleep without turning it toward the wall. Not a problem here. There are seven settings that adjusts the display to your liking in a dark or bright room. The buttons on-top are even illuminated so you don't have to fumble for what you need. I can easily find the sleep button or the volume in the dark even at low intensity.
You can wake to FM/AM or your favorite playlist and there are different volume settings for sleep and normal play.
A few negatives I've noticed is that even though the so-called 3-D sound setting helps separate the music and does a lot to add depth, it seems to sound a bit hollow at higher volume levels.
Also, the iPod docking could be a bit more secure. I feel like I'm one screen push away from ripping it right out of the connector and damaging both the product and iPod. The one I used in the hotel had a wheel that adjusted a back-plate behind the iPod, securing it in place. This one just rests in the slot in with the help of a small plastic adapter.
Outside of that, it really is nice unit and a terrific buy. I haven't used it with an iPhone so I can't speak to the feedback issues some people claim to have with these units, but iPod users can't go wrong.

Review by dupank for iHome iP90 Dual Alarm Clock Radio with AM/FM Presets and Dock for iPod and iPhone (Black)
Rating:
Pros: Great sound quality, equalizer, big display, preset time with a switch to easily adjust for DST and a button to change timezone, snooze time can be adjusted and the button is large and separated from the rest of the buttons, sturdy craftsmanship, easy to configure settings, 6 station presets, good FM reception, handy remote, backup battery, dual alarms

Cons: Any button besides the snooze button will turn off the alarm (They point this out as if it is a nice feature. In my perfect world the alarm reset button would be tiny and take a little effort to locate.), remote doesn't skip tracks on ipod, cased/sleeved ipod/iphone doesn't fit in dock with the inserts installed.

I was a little hesitant to pay $99.99 for an alarm clock (i bought mine at best buy so I could test it out before purchase, could've saved $20 on Amazon, oh well), especially after having bought a similar dock, different brand, a few months ago and returning it the next day (it was crap). But it is well worth the money. The audio quality is good enough that I wouldn't be embarrassed using it to play my ipod for a little bbq party or something.

Hope this helps.

iHome's previous iPod/iPhone clock radios have left something to be desired in the style department, but this one changed all that. The design is sleek and modern and the sound quality is excellent. Here are the highlights:

Pros:
* Easy to program
* Awesome sound quality
* Sleek, modern look
* Multiple volume settings (one for normal, one for sleep, etc)
* Multiple alarm settings (weekday, weekend, etc)
* Doesn't feel cheap when you touch/hold it
* Big readable display

Cons:
* Entire face is illuminated, not just the digits. Brighter overall than it should be
* Takes up a fair amount of room on a nightstand
* Remote is not illuminated

Overall I am pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. If I could change one thing about it, it would be the clock face so that the entire plate was not backlit, just the digits themselves.

I had a Griffin dash mount before so my review will be in comparison to it. The suction pump has a long arm which can be moved 180 degrees from one end to another. The phone holder connects to that arm with a ball joint so you can pretty much move/rotate your phone at any angle. The suction cup sticks on the dash pad pretty well unlike the Griffin mount. As long as you have a flat or near flat spot on the dashboard, this mount will stay on there good. The only complain I have is as you release those side clamps, your phone is barely sitting on those two little tabs at the bottom. Imagine if the phone doesn't sit right on them as you release the clamps, your phone will fall off easily. It's a pretty well constructed mount, you just need to be careful when you release the clamps and hold on to your phone.

Imagine if the phone doesn’t sit right on them as you release the clamps, your phone will fall off easily. It’s a pretty well constructed mount, you just need to be careful when you release the clamps and hold on to your phone.

I never tried the sticky stuff on the dash.

This should work with any phone, I know my old Q9M fits fine as well. Maybe some of the thicker blackberry's would have difficulty, don't know.

Once you set the width, you can put the phone in and pull it out without releasing the sides, so its fast for daily use.

I mounted this in my 350Z at the top of the windshield and have it pressing lightly on the sun visor to eliminate any shaking and it is well out of my view with the iPhone turned sideways.

This is the first setup I have had where I can use my phone in speakerphone mode and it actually work.

I have also tried using it to record video and it is phenomenal.

Over all I love this dash mount. Its exactly what I was looking for. I however came across a problem with the
Adjustable side clamps. Clamps do not open when my phone is in it. Once I take my phone out and push release button the clamps open very slowly. When I first opened this product I tested the button and the clamps released nice and smooth. But I guess they were poorly manufactured. It did not even last a day. I still use the mount. I just leave the clamps not to tight/loose so that I can lift/drop the phone into the clamps. But I am sure after awhile the foam used to hold the phone in place will wear out doing it this way.
On another note if you have a mount(suction disc)on your dash for Gps this mount will attach to that disk.

I wanted an alternative to my iphone laying in my center console and looked for a dash mount product. This Kensington product delivered on its claim of mounting easily on the dashboard but it something unexpected too - it also easily mounts on the windshield with the built-in suction cup. The suction cup mount is very solid and effective, similar to the style of my Garmin GPS.

I mounted mine on the left side of my windshield next to roof pillar. This allows for a clear line of sight to the road and also a short reach to change songs while listening to the iphone's music.

Want something that mounts on the dash or windshield and has a firm grip on your iphone (even with the case on) then look no further. Highly recommend.

Wow, finally we have found something to work to dock the Ipod in the minivan. We had a Belkin dock for a couple years...the one that plugs into the A/C and has the arm that extends out and moves where you want it. We just always had so much trouble with it staying put. We have an Ipod Classic 160GB, and it is the heaviest model, and the dock would always slip because we could never get it to be tight enough in the A/C plug. It was SO FRUSTRATING! This product is great. It is not a power supply and it does not have an FM transmitter. We use a tape deck to play the Ipod through, so that we get the best sound, so we don't need the FM transmitter. And, we have an A/C plug for the Ipod so we just leave it plugged in while we drive so the Ipod doesn't run down the battery. ANYWAY, this Kensington "arm" dock is so great. It turns every which way so that you can mount it anywhere. We have a van that has a console that sticks out so we actually mounted it on the side of the console, so that the Ipod now sits right next to the radio and the cords can all reach. I really recommend this for anyone who does not need the FM transmitter or A/C connector dock. VERY STURDY, VERY EASY TO INSTALL, VERY FLEXIBLE FOR USE, GREAT DESIGN!!

June 2009 update:
We still love this but wanted to update and say that in the summer, the adhesive just doesn't stick so well...so about every time we get in the van we have to re-stick it. It doesn't ever fall when we are in the car, after we re-stick it and we have the AC going...but just when not in use. So at least it is not putting our Ipod in danger of falling. We still love it and would recommend it.
